Install fonts?
I'm so glad you asked this question!!!! Cuz if you download too many fonts into your Windows font folder, Windows will have a period!!! lol.. What I do is make a seperate folder -- can be anywhere on your pc (except in your Windows System folder!), even on your Desktop, and when I want to use a certain font, all I do is locate the folder, open the font I want to use and then MINIMIZE, but do not close, that font.. When you you go to use your text tool, you will find it listed with all of the other fonts available.. When you're done using it, just close it out and you don't have to worry about Windows acting 'funny'.. lol.. Oh, and a little hint about finding your font in PSP... just type in the first few letters of the name of the font in the "text entry" dialog box in PSP and it will bring you right to it!!
Add a copyright symbol to a sig/tag?
Hold down the ALT key and type 0169 to create the Copyright symbol...©. You must use the numbers on the keypad on your keyboard. Those are the numbers on the far right. Also, you will need to make sure that 'Num Lock' is activated. If it is not activated, the numbers on your keypad will not work.
Find the most recently used colors?
PSP stores the most recently used colors in memory. If you right click on the foreground and/or background box, a window will pop up called Recent Colors. Simply choose the colour you want to re-use by left clicking on your mouse, the colour will show up on your colour palette.
Undo steps when I've made a mistake or just want to start over?
There are various ways in which you can 'undo' steps.
You may:
- Go to Edit/Undo
- Go to Edit/Command History, and highlight the steps you wish to 'undo'
- A quick and easy way to undo several steps if to go to, File/Revert. This will revert the image back to the last time you saved.
Save my workspace?
When you save your workspace, you will be saving settings for your toolbar, palettes, also settings for your rulers and grids plus image information including image position in your workspace etc., so that you can return to your project at a later time.
Go To >File > Workspace > Save. The standard "Save as" dialogue box will appear. It will ask you for a file location you wish to save your workspace to. Workspace will be saved in a .wsp format, so you need to give it a name eg: project2.wsp.
Next time you open PSP go to File > Workspace > Load. The workspace will remember the locations of your graphics so it is important that you do not move them after saving the workspace.
Disable the start-up splash screen?
To disable the splash screen, go to File/Preferences/General Program Preferences. Then unclick "Show Splash Screen when application starts". Click 'Okay'.
Add a new layer to an image?
To add a new layer to your image, you may do one of two things:
At the top of your layer palette, you'll see a group of icons.
Clicking on the first icon (far left) will add a new raster layer to your image.
Clicking on the next icon (second from left) will add a new vector layer.
OR
At the top of your PSP window, on the main toolbar, click on 'Layers'. Then click on 'New Raster Layer' or 'New Vector Layer' as desired.
